Transitional Interim Pastor
Pastor Bob is the Transitional Interim Pastor. He is originally from Boynton Beach, Florida. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1978 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC until he was honorably discharged in 1982. That same year, he married Eileen.
In 1984 he joined the Jacksonville Police Department, where he served in in the Patrol, Narcotics, Professional Standards, and Criminal Investigations Divisions. Bob joined the staff of the North Carolina Justice Academy in 1993 and taught Traffic Crash Investigation and Reconstruction, Drug Enforcement for Patrol Officers, and the Academy’s leadership program, the Management Development Program. From 1990 until 1997, he served as the chaplain for the Civil War reenactment unit 4th Battalion, 1st Brigade, Army of Northern Virginia.
He was ordained by Beulaville Baptist Church in 1995 and pastored New Hope Baptist Church (Beulaville, NC) from 1997 until he retired in 2016. He then served on the Council of Elders at Scotts Hill Baptist Church (Hampstead, NC) from 2018 until 2019. Bob served in a variety of positions with the New River Baptist Association and the North Carolina Baptist State Convention including President of the NC Bivocational Ministers Conference and the Board of Directors. Bob graduated from Campbell University in 1990 with a BAS in Criminal Justice and from Carolina University of Theology with a Master’s in Christian Counseling/Psychology (1993) and a Doctor of Ministry (1995).
He and Eileen have one son, Jared who lives with his wife Kelli, and their son Keaton in Pinehurst, NC.
Associate and Youth Pastor
Pastor Matthew is the Associate Pastor and Youth Pastor. He is originally from Thomasville, AL. He went to the University of Mobile and received his undergraduate in Theology. He also met his beautiful wife on their first day of class there. While in college, he had the amazing blessing of pastoring his first church for a few years. As well as being an intern at a church where he learned more about how to do ministry. This is also where God started to work on him and give him a burden for students.
After college, he moved to NC and started working on his MDIV at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In May of 2015, he married his wife, Shelby. In June of 2016, God blessed them with their first-born, Sadie Blake, and in January of 2018, God blessed them with their second-born, Ellie Grace. They are thrilled to be here serving with you in the work of the Gospel here in Crossnore.
